An Introduction to Accounting at Abbeygate Sixth Form

On 16th March 2026, Bethan Hassey and I (Jasmine Ager) from the Bury St Edmunds office visited Abbeygate Sixth Form College to deliver an informative presentation to four Year 12 Maths classes to introduce them to the world of accountancy.
Our presentation provided the students with a valuable insight into Whitings LLP and highlighted the range of accounting and tax qualifications available, as well as the various pathways they could take to achieve them. The students were actively engaged throughout the presentation, demonstrating genuine interest in the opportunities available to them.
We also set up a stand during lunchtime, giving students the chance to ask questions and explore potential career options in more detail. This proved worthwhile as one student in particular approached the stand to ask about applying for a trainee position at Whitings LLP.
Overall, the event was very successful, providing students with a fundamental understanding of the accounting profession and helping them to consider the next steps in their academic and career journeys.
