All-Party Parliamentary Group Apprenticeship Fair

12th February 2026

I was honoured to be invited by First Intuition to represent both the accountancy sector and apprentices at the All‑Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Apprenticeship Fair in Westminster on Tuesday 10 February 2026. The event was a fantastic opportunity to speak directly with senior government policy‑makers about the crucial role the accountancy profession plays across the UK economy, and to highlight the apprenticeship routes that make our industry more accessible.

One of the most important messages we shared was just how essential accountancy is to the UK economy. Accountants support every type of organisation you can imagine such as local shops, construction firms, start‑ups, agriculture, manufacturers, charities – the list goes on.

The key theme of the day was the transformative power of apprenticeships in accountancy. For many people, apprenticeships opened the door to a professional career without the burden of student debt. They offer clear progression, strong earning potential, and the chance to learn on the job.

The event reminded me just how important it is to speak up for our profession, our training routes, and the future of accountancy. Behind every funding decision, every apprenticeship standard, and every qualification pathway, there are real people building real careers.

I left the APPG Apprenticeship Fair proud – not just of my own journey, but of the thousands of apprentices across the country who are shaping the future of our profession.
