As we are a Xero Platinum member, members of the Whitings Team were invited to their office in Milton Keynes where our hosts, Jamie and Claire, could show and explain to us how we can further use Xero and it’s supporting apps to assist our clients in their business journeys.

A Bit About Xero

Xero is one of the world’s leading accounting software and enables us to provide our clients with real time data. Xero enables us to provide advice on live data to ensure that the most beneficial financial decisions can be made. It has been shown that businesses using real time data are able to identify areas of improvement much faster than replying on the previously used annual historic accounts, this enables these pain areas to be improved which can lead to increased profitability as well as a more efficiently run business.

What We Discussed

Initially we discussed our current service design in how we start work for our clients from requesting information and how the job stages progress, once we had identified these steps, we were able to see if Xero can assist in reducing any inefficiencies in our processes and the positive impacts this would have for our clients.

We moved on to see which best practice approaches, tips, and tricks that we as individuals had learnt and those that Jamie and Claire had seen and how they can assist us to maximise and optimise the usage of out time and the facilities that Xero offers. We spoke about areas such as using Xero bank rules and cash coding to process monthly repeating transactions in a timelier manner. There were also discussions and demonstrations covering various reports and report formatting which can be used to show our clients beneficial information, as well as how this can be used to assist them in making business decisions and furthermore shows areas need further attention to help the business to grow.

Xero’s App Store

Finally, we discussed some of the many apps in Xero’s own app store, https://apps.xero.com/uk , which apps Xero recommend for various tasks as well as new and noteworthy apps. Through discussing some of these apps we were able to recognise some client areas that could be improved via some of the individual apps, and how it would assist the day to day running of their business whilst also integrating the process into the current Xero usage.

Further Questions

If you have any questions about Xero or how you can further use Xero to assist you, please contact your local Whitings LLP office and we will be able to assist you.
