Lead, mentor and make an impact as part of a friendly, growing team
Are you an experienced auditor or corporate services professional looking for a role where you can genuinely shape client relationships, develop others and take pride in high‑quality work? We’re looking for a confident, proactive ACA/ACCA qualified Manager or Assistant Manager to join our Corporate Services team in Bury St Edmunds.
If you enjoy variety, want real responsibility, and like working in a supportive environment where no two days are the same, this could be an excellent next step.
A bit about us
Whitings LLP has deep roots in East Anglia, with long‑standing relationships across a diverse range of businesses. Our Corporate Services team delivers high‑quality audit, accounts and compliance services to clients from £5m turnover to significantly larger groups — and they value us for our professionalism, practicality and approachable style.
We’re a close‑knit, friendly team who help each other grow. You’ll be part of a department that doesn’t just “do the audit” — we also work with clients on accounts and tax matters, as well as projects such as group reorganisations, consolidations and management accounts. It’s a varied, interesting team to be a part of.
What you’ll be doing day‑to‑day
As our Manager/Assistant Manager in the Corporate Services Team, you’ll take ownership of delivering high‑quality work while supporting junior colleagues to develop their skills.
Your role will include:
- Leading audits from planning through completion for a wide range of businesses
(approximately 60:40 audit to non‑audit work) - Managing accounts preparation and tax compliance assignments
- Working closely with clients, visiting their premises and gaining a genuine understanding of how their business operates
- Mentoring junior staff, providing guidance and reviewing their work to ensure files are complete and ready for final review
- Communicating clearly with clients about progress, issues and practical solutions
- Taking pride in your work and in your client relationships, producing high-quality working papers and well considered files
Who we’re looking for
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Are ACCA/ACA qualified with at least 2 years’ post‑qualification experience (or newly qualified with strong relevant experience)
- Have solid audit experience and strong attention to detail
- Communicate confidently and professionally with clients and colleagues
- Are self‑motivated, organised, and able to work well under pressure
- Enjoy developing others and contributing to a positive team culture
- Work well both independently and as part of a close, collaborative team
What you’ll get from us
- A friendly, supportive working environment where your development genuinely matters
- Opportunities to take on special assignments and broaden your technical skillset
- A structured support and development plan to help you progress as far as you aspire within Whitings LLP
- The chance to work with long‑standing, appreciative clients across a wide range of industries
- A market‑rate remuneration package aligned with your experience and expertise
Core benefits:
- Generous annual leave (25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays – if studying this will be reduced to 20 days per annum with one additional day every 2 completed holiday years)
- Continued development including attending training courses, webinars, leadership, management development and continuing professional development programmes
- Flexible working is encouraged and regularly reviewed
- Enhanced Maternity Pay Policy
- Enhanced Paternity Pay
- In case of long-term sickness or incapacity, income protection is provided
- Life assurance
- Paid study leave
- Paid professional subscriptions
- Health Shield cash back plan – for treatments such as dental, optical and physiotherapy etc (a more extensive list is available)
- Flu vaccinations
- Enhanced sick pay
- Tax efficient pension (salary sacrifice)
- We have a wellbeing programme, which includes counselling and mental health support and legal advice
- Team social events, fundraising and activities with other local offices.
