New Government Funding for Farmers

On 16th July the Environment Secretary announced a new Government Scheme for Farmers – the Farmer Collaboration Fund.
When does the Farmer Collaboration Fund Open for Applications?
The new £30 million Farmer Collaboration Fund opens for applications on 1st September 2026. Its aim is to help farmers work together to cut ever rising costs, while building a stronger business and improve the natural environment by sharing knowledge and expertise. Full guidance is expected to be published in August which will confirm eligibility, funding limits and how the programme will operate.
What is the Farmer Welfare Grant?
In addition to this the Government is re-opening the Farmer Welfare Grant at an increased level of £1.5 million dedicated for farmer welfare and wellbeing. The grant is aimed at supporting projects that strengthen farmers’ personal and business resilience and is available over three years. Applications open on 6th August.
Key requirements for eligibility:
- Must work in farmer welfare space
- Must focus on mental health and wellbeing support
- Must target agricultural sector
The grant is for organisations that work in farmer welfare and mental health support. It is not for individual farmers although, of course, individual farmers can seek help and assistance through those organisations.
Important Dates:

- Applications close for the Farmer Collaboration Fund on 30th September, so eligibility needs to be accessed quickly and applications submitted. Successful applicants will be notified in early November.
