Before we can think about the resulting economic prosperity, however, we need to create the best structure, ie the legal framework that will connect (and disconnect) us to our European neighbours. Lloyds bank have recently published a very useful graphic of the 8 structures that already exist:
If the last recession was anything to go by, it is confidence and ‘having a plan’ that will rescue us from the stagnation of uncertainty, rather than the underlying substance of what is happening. In announcing at the Conservative party conference that Article 50 will be invoked by the end of March 2017, Theresa May has started the process of changing our mind-sets to believe that we have now got started. And what do they say: “Once you’ve started something, you are half finished”.
