Covid-19: Companies House dissolutions now put on hold

18th May 2020

Like many Government departments, Companies House have relaxed various compliance requirements to support businesses to get through this Covid-19 period. In their latest announcement, they are making the following temporary changes to their strike off policies:

  1. Voluntary (Form DS01 submitted) Strike Off Applications – Process halted after notice published in London Gazette.
  2. Automatic Dissolutions (Where accounts or confirmation statement submissions are outstanding) – Warning/chase letters will still be sent, but the process will be halted before a notice would normally be published in the London Gazette.

Although only of relevance to a low number of businesses, these changes are welcome – particularly situation number 2 above, which will help companies that have got in arrears with their admin. These changes come on top of the previous Companies House announcements to treat late filing penalty appeals sympathetically, provide a break for companies to pay late filing penalties and provide additional support with payment plans for late filing penalties.
