Companies House Verification Update

18th November 2025
UPDATED: 19/11/25

Companies House is currently rejecting certain company form submissions, even in cases where Director’s and Persons with Significant Control (PSC’s) have already completed their verification.

To prevent any delays or rejected filings once Companies House’s system is working fully, we advise that all Director’s and PSC’s should complete their verification immediately.

Once your identity has been verified, you’ll receive a unique Companies House personal code. Please share this code with us as we will need it for all future filings.

Start your verification here: gov.uk/guidance/verifying-your-identity-for-companies-house. Acting now will ensure smooth processing of your company’s submissions.

A Reminder of the Companies House Verification Changes

From 18th November 2025, all UK company directors and people with significant control (PSC’s) must complete identity verification with Companies House. This new legal requirement will strengthen corporate transparency, combat fraud, and improve trust in UK businesses by ensuring that only real, verified individuals can register, manage, or control UK companies.

Since the service launched, more than one million people have already verified their identity – a clear sign that many are preparing early for the change.

What You’ll Need
To verify your identity, you’ll need one of the following valid forms of ID:
  • A biometric passport (from any country)
  • A UK photo driving licence (full or provisional)
  • A UK biometric residence permit (BRP)
  • A UK biometric residence card (BRC)
  • A UK Frontier Worker permit (FWP)

You’ll also need:
  • your current address, and the year you moved in
  • to sign in to or create a GOV.UK One Login

When to Verify
The deadline for completing verification depends on your role and registration date:
  • Directors: Your 14-day verification period starts from your company’s confirmation statement date.
  • New PSC’s (after 18th November 2025): Your 14-day verification period begins from the date you register with Companies House.
  • Existing PSC’s who are also directors: Your 14-day period also begins from the company’s confirmation statement date.
  • Existing PSC’s who are not directors: Your 14-day period begins on the first day of your month of birth as listed on the Companies House register. For example, if your date of birth on record is March 1990, your verification window will start on 1 March 2026.
