Annual Whitings LLP Golf Day 2024

Annual Whitings LLP Golf Day 2024 7th October 2024

The annual Whitings Golf Day 2024 was held on Friday 20 September at Lakeside Lodge Golf & Country Club in Pidley.

There was a good mix of old and new faces present among the 16 competitors on the day. There were also a wide variety of handicaps on display, ranging from 4 to 28. Despite some very poor conditions being forecast elsewhere in the country, the weather gods were kind to us. It was warm and dry all day and the sun even made a few appearances too!

The Morning

The day began with the individual Stableford competition, which sees the competitors aiming for 2nd place, to avoid the honour of organising the event for the following year. After 18 holes of good (and not so good!) golf, the results were in. Finishing in the coveted second place was Daniel Walker (St. Neots), with a very respectable score of 39 points. There can, however, only be one winner and this year that accolade goes to James Gibson (March). He had a fantastic score of 41 points, having played an excellent round of golf. Along with getting custody of the trophy, James will have bragging rights for the next year. Although, I am sure it will not get mentioned in the office…

During the round there were also prizes for ‘nearest the pin’, won by James Gibson (March) and ‘longest drive’, won by Adrian MacKenzie (Whitings Wealth Management).

The Afternoon Of Golfing

After enjoying lunch in the sunshine, the afternoon saw attention turn to the Texas Scramble team event, in which every player’s contribution is crucial. Following a close battle with just one shot in it, the title of year’s champions went to the team of Daniel Walker (St. Neots), David Salmon (Whitings Wealth Management), Andrew Band (March) and Matthew Oakley (Bury St. Edmunds).

Well done to all the winners!

All in all, a good day was had by everyone. Now we look forward to next year’s event courtesy of James.
