Agricultural Subsidies – Key Dates

As the online application process for the 2023 Basic Payment Scheme opens tomorrow, and the application process for Countryside Stewardship (Higher Tier) is already open, please find a summary of the key dates for agricultural subsidies below.

Basic Payment Scheme:

• 14^th March 2023 – applications open
• 15^th May 2023 – applications close
• 9^th June 2023 – deadline for late 2023 applications (with penalty)

Countryside Stewardship:

• 7^th February 2023 – applications open (Higher Tier)
• 21^st March 2023 – applications open (Mid Tier & Wildlife offers)
• 28^th April 2023 – applications close (Higher Tier)
• 18^th August 2023 – applications close (Mid Tier & Wildlife offers)

Between September 2023 and December 2023 agreement offers for both tiers will be sent out.

Don’t forget that applications are open year-round for Countryside Protection, Capital Grants (including Higher Tier capital grants,) Woodland Tree Health and Woodland Management Plan, as well as for the new Sustainable Farming Incentive for those farmers who are eligible for BPS.
