2025 SME Growth: Back to normality
5th November 2025
As we head towards the end of another calendar year, we now have enough client data to see how SME businesses have recently faired.
Perhaps a little unexpectedly, on average, turnover for 2025 is a respectable 2.6% up on 2024. As you will see from the graph above, this approximates to the longer term trend.
This figure probably includes a bit of “catching up” from the stagnation of the 2024 election year. It may only approximate to inflation, so not be particularly exciting, but it is positive and it feels like the recent shocks of Covid, inflation and war have now all been adapted to.
So with this firm foundation, and the recent revelation that the £22 billion black hole in the public finances was only a “Bobby Ewing event”, perhaps we can now all move forward to 2026 with a little more confidence and optimism.
