2025 Post Budget Forum: Whitings LLP X Taylor Rose
4th December 2025
We recently visited the offices of Taylor Rose to co-host the 2025 Post-Budget Forum at their Peterborough office on 3 December 2025, overlooking the fabulous Ferry Meadows country park.
At the event Nicholas Johnson, Partner at Taylor Rose and I led the discussions with those in attendance from the local business community, professional advisors and interested parties.
Some Key Points Discussed Include:
- The changes to the various tax rates and the effect that this will have going forward, and discussing the complexity of the UK tax system,
- Inheritance Tax Reliefs and the updates that were confirmed in not only this year’s Budget, but also from last year,
- Making Tax Digital for Income Tax and the soft landing in the first year,
- The squeezed middle and the fiscal drag which will affect many.

We also discussed some of the 90 plus policy documents, consultations and other reports that have followed the Budget.
There was a discussion on the continued effects from last year, and the increases and effect of employer’s National Insurance and the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage, and the effect that this is having moving forward, in terms of:
- Additional costs,
- Recruitment plans,
- Raising finance
- Business structures.
Discussions moved on to the introduction of pay per mile for EV’s and plug in hybrid cars, and how this was going to be introduced. We also moved onto the effects of the changes to the salary sacrifice schemes in terms of pension contributions, and how likely individuals are to increase their contributions until April 2029.
Finally, we also touched on the proposals for paying tax earlier through the expended use of the PAYE system, and how this would work with the PAYE codes and the digital age which HMRC are continuously striving to achieve.
It was interesting hearing from those who will be affected by not only this Budget, but by the previous one and the opportunities that have and will also come from the announcements.

Our Final Thoughts
This post-Budget Forum was a great opportunity to join forces with the team at Taylor Rose and to discuss what matters to both businesses and individuals most at this time. We got to share ideas, opinions and insights following the Budget from different points of view. We look forward to more joint ventures in the future with Taylor Rose and thank them for welcoming us to their wonderful office.
