Truck Cartel Case: Hauliers Edge Closer to Justice

9th August 2024

Hauliers edge closer to justice in a landmark ruling in the Truck Cartel Case.

An Update

In a significant victory for the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and over 18,000 haulage operators, the Competition Appeal Tribunal has granted a Collective Proceedings Order (CPO) to the RHA. This ruling allows the RHA to seek compensation for operators affected by a price-fixing cartel involving major truck manufacturers like DAF, Iveco, Daimler-Mercedes, Renault-Volvo, Scania, and MAN.

The journey has been long and fraught with legal challenges, but the recent court decision marks a significant milestone. One manufacturer, DAF, is indicating a willingness to settle. Therefore, there’s hope the claim may be resolved sooner than anticipated.

This ruling brings the RHA and the claimants they represent one step closer to securing the compensation that haulage operators rightly deserve.

Joining The Collective Claim

The RHA’s collective claim is open to any company, firm, or person who purchased or leased a new truck between 17 January 1997 and 31 January 2014, or a used truck between 17 January 1997 and 31 January 2015. There is no cost to join the claim and membership in the RHA is not required.
