Thetford Golf Club Captains Day & Junior Open Success

Thetford Golf Club held their Captains Day on 6th July 2024 and their Junior Open on 2nd August and we were proud sponsors of the events. We love getting involved with the local community. Sponsoring both the Junior Open and Captains Day was another great opportunity for us to support our local club.
Despite the questionable summer weather, Thetford Golf Club didn’t let this hold them back. The Club received the great feedback from guests saying it was the best charity day they had been to! Well deserved feedback indeed after the hard work and preparations that led up to the event.
Proceeds Raised
Club Captain, Kevin Cook and the team raised just under £12,000 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
About The Day
Teams paid £200 to take part, you didn’t need a handicap, you just needed to be able to play golf as it was all for charity. There was a BBQ and prizes to win throughout the day and lots and lots of food and drink!
The First Tee kicked off with bananas supplied by Whitings adorned with our stickers saying ‘Don’t slip up on your accounting, choose Whitings LLP’ at the first tee, which everyone found funny as they sipped on their Sangria. The bananas gave the golfers a much needed boost of energy ahead of a very busy day golfing.
With kind donations from local businesses to Thetford Golf Club of meat for the BBQ, cakes, beer, drinks and more. The event was a great example of the community coming together to help raise funds for a fantastic local charity.
A Message From The Captain
Speaking about the success of the event Kevin said,
‘This is a fantastic achievement and would not be possible without your support so thank you to everyone who took part and I hope you had a great day. Of course, these events would be nothing without the support of our sponsors and the dedication of or staff and volunteers, so thank you all!’
