MTD for VAT: Which Bridging Software?

1st February 2019

As we approach the 1 April 2019 deadline for the introduction of MTD compliant VAT submissions, many businesses will at last be focusing on what solution they should adopt.   If their current bookkeeping system does not already have an upgrade that automatically provides this new functionality, they will be considering adopting ‘bridging software’.   Looking through the HMRC list of approved software, the following simple/clearly priced/standalone products are currently available:

1clickaccounts £9.95 pa
123 e-filing £36.00 pa
123 Sheets £39.00 pa
Abratax £8.00 pm
Accu man £100 pa
Barnbrook £30.00 pa
BTC £50.00 pa
CHM £7.50 per submission
PWC £90.00 pa
Tax Optimiser £30.00 pa

Most of these work by completing a template excel spreadsheet and uploading it to the supplier’s portal, for onward submission.
