Local accountant prepared to run the Marathon

Local accountant Ben Beech has been selected to take part in the 2019 Virgin Money London Marathon taking place in on Sunday 28 April in memory of his girlfriend’s father.

 

Each year, St Barnabas Hospice has provides more than 10,500 people across Lincolnshire with free, high quality compassionate, palliative and end-of-life care, day care therapy and counselling. The charity was able to care for Ben’s family during the last 5 months of his life.

 

Ben, who is an accountant at local accountancy firm Whiting & Partners, and the first in the firm to run the London Marathon commented on his exciting venture, ‘It has always been on my bucket list to do a marathon and I was very lucky to be selected in the first ballot I have entered.’

 

Training for the race began as soon as Ben was accepted comprising of four runs a week including a long run at weekends. ‘My aim is a sub 4 hour marathon time. The furthest I have run so far is 17 miles around Rutland Water.’

 

Ben is aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity for his run around the famous landmarks of the city. Mike Pastor, Challenge Events Fundraiser of St Barnabas Hospice commented on Ben’s upcoming challenge ‘We’re so grateful to Ben for choosing to Support St Barnabas, he’s doing something amazing for the people of Lincolnshire and I’m sure he’ll smash his four hour target!’.
