The announcement of the date for the In/Out of the EU referendum has stirred debate as to whether being within the EU is good or bad for UK manufacturing business. There is clearly no simple answer to the question, with various interest groups declaring themselves as yes or no supporters. Ultimately, it will depend upon factors such as target markets (EU or rest of the world), together with source of input materials as to whether the EU is seen as a help or hindrance.
Manufacturing businesses need to consider the impact of either a yes or no vote to ensure that they have a contingency plan that they can implement should the vote go against the way they favour.
