Cloud Accounting Update

Sage, the market leaders in providing locally and network hosted SME accounting software, launched their first serious cloud hosted variant, SageOne Cashbook, in January 2011. This product, aimed primarily at micro businesses, and costing just £5pm, was a newly written application with very basic functionality. Now, nearly 2 years later, they have launched its first real upgrade, named
SageOne Accounts Extra (costing £25pm).
The latest product from Sage includes a range of new more advanced features:
- easy multi-currency international trading, export capability
- bank reconciliation automation
- greater accessibility and control
- more in-depth cash flow reporting and forecasting
- VAT calculation for transactions with non-UK and Ireland based businesses
- additional invoicing functionality
Simon Hodgkins, head of SageOne UK and Ireland said: “We’ve been a proud supporter of small businesses for over 30 years, and we understand the importance of delivering the right technology at the right time for our customers. “Sage One Accounts Extra has been designed to give our users more power and control across the board; which in turn gives them the freedom, confidence, and peace of mind to focus on growing their business.” The new system will no doubt be of great benefit to both small and large businesses alike in the long run.
As with the rest of SageOne, Accounts Extra is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) facilities with European customers’ data being hosted in the company’s Dublin and London data centres. The company had chose to use AWS was due to its high availability and resilience. “Data sovereignty, security and availability are top priorities for us because they are the top priorities of our customers,” Sage commented said. “We are not worried that Amazon is going to go down or disappear, and we have full safe harbour agreements in place with them,” Sage added.
