Charity annual returns due

4th January 2018

Charities with the financial year end of 31 March 2017 must submit their annual return by 31 January 2018, 10 months after the year end.

What you need to submit varies based on whether it is an un-incorporated organisation or a charitable company. It also varies based on income of the charity – requiring charities with the highest income* to file an annual return alongside a copy of the accounts, trustees report and audit report.

*(over £1m income, or gross assets over £3.26m and gross income over £250,000)

As a trustee, by law you should keep the charity’s details on the register up to date. Any details which need changing should be updated before you submit the annual return.
