A Nasty Surprise From Companies House: Filing Fees Up
4th November 2025
Clearly thinking that they would join in with the scary Halloween activities, Companies House announced on 30th October that they would be increasing filing fees for various company forms including new incorporations and the annual Confirmation Statement. Following some increases in 2024 and, in what they’re now calling an annual review of their fees, Companies House have stated that fees are increasing in order to fund their ongoing activities, including those associated with incorporating new companies, publishing the data to the public, and funding The Insolvency Service’s company investigation and enforcement activity.
Perhaps the headline increase for existing companies is the increase in the filing fee for the annual Confirmation Statement, which increases from £34 to £50 for electronic filings. In what can be seen as a further push to move everyone over to digital filing, filing the paper form will now come at a cost of £110! For those considering incorporating a new company, the filing fee goes up from £50 to £100 when filing electronically.

The one piece of good news is that these fee increases will not come into effect until 1 February 2026. As such, those who are considering setting up a new limited company, undeterred by the new increased fees, may wish to ensure this is done prior to that date.
